Wander around the numerous art galleries and museums in the city and surrounding area. Visit the National Gallery of Denmark, the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, the Arken Museum of Modern Art and the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. World-famous architects such as Foster, Larsen and Libeskind have left their mark on the city, where modern buildings blend wonderfully with old castles and palaces.

Copenhagen is a shopper's paradise. The city centre offers everything from souvenir shops and tiny one-off boutiques, to world-famous fashion and design outlets and department stores. Copenhagen boasts one of the longest pedestrian shopping areas in Europe, Strøget, which as well as the sights of the city offers excellent opportunities for shopping.

Be sure to visit Tivoli Gardens, where you will find one of the world's oldest amusement parks. The large city zoo is also well worth a visit. In Copenhagen you are never far from beaches and swimming spots. Or you may decide to visit Billund (217 kilometres away), the birthplace of Lego and home of the original Legoland.
