Munich for entertainment
If you've missed the Oktoberfest, the biggest and most famous beer festival, sample the beer in one of Munich's many traditional beer halls, complete with dirndl-wearing waitresses and live music. Have a drink with the locals on the Marienplatz or in the city park. Let your day turn into night in one of the bars or clubs of the trendy Schwabing district.
Munich for shopping
On Munich's most famous shopping street, the Maximilianstraße, you will find Nymphenburg porcelain and the boutiques of famous fashion designers. More youthful and accessible design outlets can be found in Schwabing. PEP, OEZ and Riem Arkaden are just three of the many shopping malls you can visit. On Fridays and Saturdays you can browse the flea markets. In December a festive atmosphere is conjured up by colourful Christmas markets.
