Did you know that the avant-garde art movement known as Dada or Dadaism first developed in Zurich? The centre of the movement was the Cabaret Voltaire, a building in the heart of Zurich's Old Town, where artists developed their ideas 100 years ago and where today the spirit of that time lives on in a special way.
During the day you can browse books and works of art connected to Dadaism and contemporary art in the little shop, while in the afternoon you can relax in the pleasant bar upstairs. Cabaret Voltaire is also a museum of the Dada movement, where every piece of furniture is a work of art in itself. Lose yourself in the atmosphere of this absurd and slightly mad – though very agreeable – space as you enjoy local beer, excellent cocktails and occasional concerts.
