Mojca Bitenc Križaj
Soprano Mojca Bitenc Križaj is a graduate not only of the Ljubljana Academy of Music but also of the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Medicine. After completing a master's degree at the Academy of Music with a special commendation and a diploma summa cum laude, she decided to pursue a career as an opera singer. She is the winner of a student Prešeren Prize and has won top prizes at various international singing competitions. Currently appearing as Marinka in Smetana’s The Bartered Bride at the Opera and Ballet Theatre in Ljubljana, she is a regular guest at opera houses and at festivals at home and abroad. She has performed with numerous orchestras, including the Wiener Symphoniker, and has sung several operatic roles. Last summer she appeared at the Bregenz Festival in Austria where she sang the part of Micaëla in Bizet's Carmen on the world’s largest floating stage.
1. Where was your very first flight to?
My first flight was to Australia, when I was 12 years old.

3. What would be your preferred destination for a weekend break?
4. What kind of bird would you be if you could fly?
An albatross, because they can float in the air for hours and hours.
5. Favourite European city and why?
It's hard to say... Venice is perhaps the most fascinating city I have visited.
6. What do you like more as a tourist – museums or the buzz of city streets?
Definitely the buzz of the streets. But I never go anywhere as a tourist without visiting opera houses, concert halls and museums.
